The Audi h-tron Quattro Gives a Glimpse of the Future at the NAIAS
Audi drivers were able to get a sneak peek at Audi’s latest technology debuted on the Audi h-tron quattro at the recent International Auto Show held in Detroit.
Audi presented the world-debut of the Audi h-tron quattro concept vehicle this year at the North American International Auto Show. The h-tron quattro featured an array of innovative new technology to give attendants a glimpse of the advanced systems that will be implemented in new models in the near future.
To give our customers an idea of the exciting features to come, let’s take a look at what was revealed:
- Fuel Cell Technology – the concept vehicle revealed in Detroit offers all-electric drive powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The model combines fuel cell technology with a battery for maximum power. The hydrogen fuel cells are engineered to be refueled in just four minutes and provide a range of up to 372 miles.
- Dual Electric Motors – the Audi h-tron quattro is powered by two electric motors mounted on the front and rear axle. The front motor generates 90kW of power and the rear motor delivers 140kW. Working together, the motors can propel the vehicle from 0 to 62mph in just under seven seconds.
- Piloted Driving – the Audi h-tron quattro provides a look at the piloted driving capabilities that are expected to appear in new 2017 models including the Audi A8 sedan. The technology is built upon the central driver assistance controller which computes a model of the car’s surroundings based on information gathered from the immediate environment through a series of cameras and sensors. This information is fed to driving assistance programs which use it for piloted driving and automated parking systems. This technology is expected to elevate the safety and performance of Audi vehicles in an entirely new way.
- Information Display and Interactive Technology – Audi also revealed updates to its innovative information displays for climate, entertainment, navigation, and driver assistance programs. Audi vehicles will provide a higher standard of connectivity and an innovative array of touch-based interactive screen controls including haptic feedback.
The Audi h-tron quattro truly provides an exciting glimpse into the future of efficient performance, interactive design, and safer performance features within the Audi brand.
