The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe puts comfort as a top priority without diminishing any of its predecessors’ best qualities.

The Mercedes-Benz team at Santa Barbara Auto Group is excited about the future of the E-Class after the brand released the model plan prior to the car’s public appearance at the Detroit Auto Show. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has carved its place into the brand’s persona as the leader in luxury and comfort while lending the title of sportiest to its rivals. In this regard, the 2018 E-Class Coupe solidifies and bolsters that reputation, and even offers a sporty appeal as well.

“With its clear aesthetic lines, our new E-Class Coupe appeals equally to the heart and mind,” said Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, member of board of management of Daimler AG and responsible for group research and Mercedes-Benz cars development. “It combines contemporary luxury, agile sportiness and high-tech engineering into an automotive personality with spirit, offering exclusive, refined driving pleasure.”

Spacious, Luxurious, and Powerful

The 2018 edition of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. The coupe measures at 190-inches long (4.8 inches longer than the previous model), 73.2-inches wide (2.9-inches wider than before), and 1.3-inches taller at 56.3-inches. The extra space and comfort acquired by these additional few inches are substantial, especially in regards to rear legroom, front and rear shoulder room, as well as rear headspace. One of the more recognizable changes in the vehicle’s appearance is that the 2018 E-Class has dropped two of the doors. The now two-door Coupe has a more executive appearance with aesthetic lines flowing from front to back that subtly demand and inherently garner respect.

For the U.S. market, the E-Class Coupe will initially launch with the E400 and E400 4MATIC models. Powered by a 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 engine with 329 horsepower and 354lb-ft of torque, the new E-Class will offer more in the power department than any of the previous models. Both the E400 and E400 4MATIC will come equipped with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission that pushes it from zero-to-60 mph in 5.2 seconds. In the technology department, the 2018 E-Class Coupe will introduce Mercedes-Benz’s next step to semi-autonomous driving, with the upgraded Drive Pilot system and Distance Pilot Distronic that, for the first time, can automatically follow vehicles in front of you up to a speed of 130 mph.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is set to be released for public purchase in the summer of 2017. The BMW 5-Series Lineup Plans to Dominate 2017 Detroit Auto Show

BMW is using the 2017 Detroit Auto Show as their debut stage to introduce the next generation of the brand’s 5-Series.

Year after year the Detroit Auto Show becomes exponentially more interesting and impressive. With constant advances in technology, the contemporary push toward sustainable efforts, and an overall lift on limiting ideas, the Auto Show has become a demonstration of continuing automotive brilliance and innovation. This year will once again display the collaborative efforts of engineering genius. Amongst the exhibitions will be the lineup for the new BMW 5-Series. After the brand released photos and information about the new series in October, it is easy to tell that the intelligence and unmatched ingenuity that BMW has always prided itself on is still their priority. As an authorized BMW dealer, BMW Santa Barbara is excited to see the official release of the vehicle and the admiration it will receive for its debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

An All-inclusive Luxury Vehicle

The new BMW 5-Series will likely compete against rival Mercedes-Benz with their new tech-focused E-Class sedan. Though the vehicles will be similar in concept, the BMW 5-Series is truly unique. The automaker will be debuting three models from the 5-Series: the 540i xDrive, hybrid 530e iPerformance, and M550 xDrive.

A host of technical and communications systems in the 5-Series are borrowed from the higher class 7-Series sedan. For instance: the 5-Series now offers semi-autonomous driving and safety features, gesture controls for telephone and infotainment system, and the ability to park the car with the driver standing outside the vehicle.

The 5-Series will be slightly larger than its previous model, but due to the use of lightweight aluminum parts, it will also be 137 pounds lighter, effectively adding comfort while improving efficiency. The three models that will be displayed at the Detroit Auto Show have varying engines to suit the performance needs of different drivers.

  • The 540i xDrive is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 335hp and 332lb-ft of torque.
  • The hybrid 530e iPerformance combines BMW’s eDrive electric drive concept and a 4-cylinder gasoline engine for 248hp and 310lb-ft of torque.
  • The M550 xDrive has a V-8 engine that has 456hp and 480lb-ft of torque for more power-driven drivers.

The 530i and 540i models from the 5-Series are set for public purchase as early as February, while the hybrid model and M550 xDrive model are set to go on sale in Spring 2017. BMW Santa Barbara is prepared to offer you the knowledge and guidance you need when deciding if the 5-Series is right for you.
