Audi Plans to Broaden the Brand’s SUV Lineup Due to Increasing Success

Audi boasts three new SUVs in the works: the Audi Q4, Q8 and e-tron models with Quattro System for SUV enthusiasts.

The 2020 Audi Q8 is sure to please the eager roadster with its 3.0-liter turbo-charged Fuel Stratified Injection engine. Powered by a plug-in hybrid system, this electric motored vehicle has 443 horsepower with 516 lb-ft of torque that can go from zero to 60 in a reported 5.4 seconds. The Audi Quattro system has an eight-speed automatic transmission, which propels to speeds up to 155 miles-per-hour. The Audi Q8 concept has a wider footprint than the Q7, but a lower roofline for a more aerodynamic feel in SUV style. As for the Audi Q4 SUV, production has been reported to begin in 2019 taking a coupe-like profile and implanting it on a high-riding SUV body. The Q4 will translate the TT to SUV form taking an approach with off-road capabilities, a heavily curved roofline, and a liftback-style tailgate. Audi on track with 2018 launch date for Audi e-tron Quattro

Audi plans to launch the latest model in the e-tron Quattro series in 2018. The new model will take on a futuristic look with the Audi emblem glowing at the front, as well as sustainable battery technology offering more than 310 miles of battery life per charge. Audi executive, Dietmar Voggenreiter, claims Audi is “…the first real premium manufacturer doing a premium electric SUV.” The design will also entail fast-charging capabilities, as it is an essential characteristic in this latest Quattro system concept. “Both things are coming in 2018. The battery energy density is there and there is a lot of charging infrastructure in Europe, the US and Asia,” states Voggenreiter.

The e-tron, all electric all-wheel drive SUV is sized between the Q5 and Q7. It sports an electric motor on the front axle, and an electric motor for each rear wheel with a big lithium-ion battery fitted between the front and rear axle, below the passenger compartment.
