Before the year ends SmartUSA will launch a large advertising campaign via, TV, print, digital media in a effort to get the struggling brand off the ground again since Mercedes Benz took over operations on July 1st. There seems to be a large amount of people that are still not aware of the brand or what Smart can bring to the table.
Mercedes will offer aggressive lease deals on vehicles to try and jump start the once promising company once again. Lease deals that just came about last week consist of $179/month for a 24 month lease as well as low APR rates of 0.0% for 36 months and 1.9% for up to 60 months.
A common misconception among consumers is that Smartwas sold, where in reality this is not the case. Smart has always been owned by Mercedes Benz’ big brother, Daimler AG, but gave control the Penske Automotive in 2008, but due to slow and drastically declining sales, (24,000 in 2008 to 5,000 last year) Daimler AG reclaimed the brand to distribute and pitch to a younger crowd in Mercedes Benz marketing campaigns.
Look for Smart to regain some of that lost luster and captivate the market once again with its innovative and unique compact 2 person cars.
