Acura Santa Barbara shares how Acura unveiled the next-generation NSX supercar twenty-five years after the initial predecessor.
Acura introduced the next-generation NSX supercar this year at the 2015 North American International Auto show sending a ripple of excitement through the automotive community. The car is the result of over twenty-five years of research and design efforts from the Acura brand. The next-generation NSX features exceptional production styling and engine performance coupled with efficient hybrid technology.
The Acura NSX was built to challenge current expectations about supercar performance and engineering. The vehicle partners a twin-turbocharged 75-degree DOHC V6 engine with a 9-speed dual clutch transmission and three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system. Combined with a lightweight multi-material body, the car sets new standards for efficiency.
Precision Crafted Performance
During the auto show, Acura introduced the NSX under the title, “Precision Crated Performance.” This theme hails back to the original tagline of the Acura brand and was meant to show how the heritage of Acura engineering has led to this very point. Over three years of extensive development research was completed by the U.S. research and development team for the new NSX and built upon the legacy of the original model from over twenty-five years ago. The development team was challenged to leverage new technology to provide more vivid performance in an intuitive manner. Acura designers wanted the car to center on the experience of the driver, and provide a unique connection between the two. The result is an exhilarating driving experience.
Another celebrated aspect of the NSX is that it is developed and manufactured here in the United States. The research and development team was based in the U.S. and production for the NSX will take place at the new Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. The next-generation NSX comes almost exactly 25 years after the first North American debut. The name originally stood for “New Sports Experiment” as the brand was working to redefine what it meant to be a sports car. The experiment was a success, and is now even more innovative a quarter century later.
Some of the key innovations for the new NSX design include new technologies, materials, and performance engineering. Built imaginatively, every part of the vehicle is built to connect with the driver and the driver’s intentions. The result is a very personalized driving experience.
Drivers do not have to have been at the 2015 North American International Auto Show to learn about and stay up to date with the Acura NSX. California drivers can follow the latest news and updates with Acura Santa Barbara. For more information, visit Acura Santa Barbara online or in person.
